Swadhin Bangla Betar Kendra artist and eminent singer Abdul Jabbar has passed away at the age of 80.
He breathed his last at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) in Dhaka Wednesday morning.
Dr Debabrata Banik, in-charge of Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of BSMMU confirmed the news to BSS.
Abdul Jabbar had been suffering from kidney complications for a long time and was hospitalised at BSMMU for the past three months.

The "Salam salam hajar salam" famed singer started his career in erstwhile Pakistan Betar in 1958 and made his debut in playback singing in 1962. He had recorded over six thousand songs during his lifetime.
Many of his songs have become a staple of modern Bangladeshi culture and music.
Jabbar was awarded the Bangabandhu Padak in 1973, Ekushey Padak in 1980, and Swadhinata Padak in 1996, among numerous other accolades.
