400kV double circuit electricity transmission line begins

It is the first 400kV grid transmission line of the country, Masum-Al-Beruni, managing director of PGCB said. Each of this double circuit line of PGCB has a capacity of 1200MW, he said. He also said that with this high voltage line, it will be possible to transmit around 1000MW electricity to the national grid from some constructed and under construction power plants in Bibiyana of Sylhet region. The capacity of the national grid will also be increased with the introduction of this new high voltage line. The length of this new transmission line is 168km. It has been constructed under the 400kV Bibiyana-Kaliakor and 230kV Bibiyana-Fenchuganj line development project. The project is implemented with the combined funding from the government, PGCB’s own fund and Korean Economic Development Fund (EDCF). This new line has passed over Nabiganj, Baniachang, Ajmeriganj upazilas of Habiganj district, Itna, Mithamoin, Nikli, Karimganj, Kotiadi, Pakundia upazilas of Kishorganj, Gafargaon upazila of Mymensingh, Kapasia, Sripur, Gazipur Sadar and Kaliakoir upazilas of Gazipur district. The 400kV line will start in full capacity from Kaliakoir today. Earlier, the Meghnaghat-Aminbazaar 400kV line was started with a 230kV transmission.
