The morning dew clings to the leaves
Like I clung to the hopes of your return
I held onto every inch of the rope
As it frayed, my eyes watered and burned
Now my throat closes up on me
As you left me bereft and sore
The clouds are carved with traces of you
I wish you never walked through that door
The birds sing their endless song,
But the tune is lost to deaf ears
All the sound in this realm had faded
The moment you reached the end of your years
Your clothes remain strewn across your room,
Prescriptions, once a Holy grail- now empty of use
What will happen to the rest of us?
Come, give me an answer, so this pain could be let loose
The grass might be greener on the other side,
But the ground beneath me is bare and cold
Every breath you took is numbered, now gone
The air around me continues to feel stale and old
