Nadiya lands her own BBC culinary show exploring deshi foods

Update : 30 Apr 2016, 11:07 PM
Nadiya Hussain, the winner of the “Great British Bake Off” last year, is all set to star in her own cooking show in which she will explore her culinary roots in Bangladesh. Hussain, who recently baked Queen Elizabeth’s 90th birthday cake, will star in a two-part BBC travel food programme. With “The Chronicles Of Nadiya” as its working title, the show will begin in the baker's hometown of Luton and chronicle her heritage as she journeys to her family village in the northeast region of Bangladesh. The BBC has described the spin-off show, created by Love Productions, which also makes “Bake Off,” as an "exuberant" food-inspired journey. The programme will see Hussain cook dishes from her childhood, share favourite meals with family and friends, learn new recipes and explore the culinary changes that have taken place in Bangladesh in the decade since her last visit for her wedding. Head of commissioning for documentaries at the BBC Patrick Holland said: "Nadiya's story on Bake Off touched the hearts of the nation. We are delighted that she will be using her cooking skills to take us on a journey to such an extraordinary and changing land."
