Bangladeshi human trafficking syndicate busted in Malaysia

The Malaysian Immigration Department busted a human trafficking syndicate in Shah Alam in the state of Selangor on Friday. Bangladesh national Abdul Rauf, 43, alias Abang Bangla, used to lead the syndicate, said Immigration Department Director Datuk Seri Mustafar Ali, reports the Star online. In the meantime, after raiding a house in the same area, law enforcers detained 50 more Bangladeshis, aged between 20 and 45, and seized RM13,000 in cash and 48 Bangladeshi passports from them. These people, mostly blacklisted by the department, travelled from Dhaka to Jakarta and then took a boat to enter Malaysia illegally, the official said. “They were here previously, and we caught them for working illegally or with expired permits. That's why they were blacklisted and could not enter Malaysia through official means,” he was quoted by the Star Online as saying.
