Bangladesh Emerging Team made a dismal start in the three-match unofficial one-day series as they were thrashed by visiting Sri Lanka Emerging side by 186 runs in the first match on Sunday at BKSP.
After winning the toss, the Sri Lanka outfits compiled a big score of 304/7 in their stipulated 50 overs thanks to a combined batting effort before the hosts crumbled to 118 all out in just 28.3 overs.
The Islanders started the innings with a flyer and also finished it with some whirlwind batting after consolidating the middle overs and the two opening bowlers of the local side- Yeasin Arafat and Shahidul Islam- received the toughest pounding conceding 89 and 71 runs respectively.
Sri Lanka’s captain Charith Asalanka was the highest scorer with 71 runs batting at number three while Wanindu Hasaranga made a swashbuckling 70 off just 46 balls later in the innings.

Shafiqul Islam, the left-handed seamer bagged two wickets conceding 22 runs in seven overs for hosts.
Bangladesh opener Saif Hassan made 50 of 70 runs but none other could even get past 20-run mark and the regular fall of wickets saw the side slumped to a lowly score.
Hasaranga once again wrecked havoc once again as he got 4/12 with his leg-spin and the all-rounder was adjudged man of the match.
The second match of the series will take place on Tuesday at the same venue.
