Nazrul Sangeet singer Dalia Nausheen passes away

Renowned Nazrul Sangeet singer and voice artist of the Swadhin Bangla Betar Kendra, Dalia Nausheen, has passed away after a long battle with cancer.

She died at 12:57pm on Wednesday while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Dhaka. She was 71.

Her cousin and singer Sadiya Afrin Mallik said Dalia had been unwell for some time and was admitted to hospital on March 27 after her condition worsened. She passed away at midday on Wednesday.

Her namaz-e-janaza was held after Maghrib at Gulshan Society Mosque, followed by her burial at Banani graveyard.

Dalia Nausheen, a freedom fighter voice artist of the Swadhin Bangla Betar Kendra, played an important role during the Liberation War. In recognition of her contribution to music, she was awarded the Ekushey Padak in 2020.

She was the daughter of renowned architect Muzharul Islam.
