What started as a viral meme has now become the inspiration for a new film.
Titled "Haruner Bhaater Hotel," the movie draws its name from a former chief of Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Harunor Rashid.
Known for his controversial practice of feeding individuals detained or interrogated by his department—and then sharing these images on social media—Harunor Rashid quickly became a figure of public intrigue and criticism.
One of the most infamous moments in this saga involved BNP leader Gayeshwar Chandra Roy, who was detained during BNP protests and photographed while being fed by Harun.
The image went viral, sparking widespread debate and criticism.
Now, this peculiar piece of internet culture is being brought to the big screen by actor Jadu Azad.
His upcoming film, "Haruner Bhaater Hotel," has officially been registered with the Directors' Association, as confirmed by the association’s schedule book on Tuesday.
A senior director from the association said that there has been a rush of film registrations reflecting political changes.
The challenge now is to see when and how these films are produced, and whether they are made properly.
He said: “I urge everyone to ensure that the films are made with accurate information and data so that the audience receives correct news through entertainment.”
Actor Jadu Azad commented on the project: “We will not compromise on the film’s quality. It will be that film. We haven’t decided on the cast yet, but there will be some surprises.”
Additionally, the schedule book from the Directors' Association reveals that in the past ten days, around six film titles have been registered, including one named "Mother of Democracy" about BNP Chairperson and former prime minister Khaleda Zia.
