Shomi Kaiser has resigned from the post of President of E-Commerce Association of Bangladesh (E-CAB), an organization of e-commerce companies in the country.
Kaiser resigned through a letter written to the executive council of E-CAB. She requested immediate implementation of the resignation letter.
In the resignation letter, Shomi writes, “At present I am resigning from the post of E-CAB president due to my physical condition and doctor's advice and request immediate effect of the resignation letter. In my absence, the current EC (Executive Committee of E-CAB) will be responsible for continuing the work till the election.''
Her mobile phone was switched off after several calls to inquire about the resignation.
E-CAB general secretary Nasima Akhter confirmed Shami Kaiser's resignation.
Kaiser become the president of E-cab for the first time in 2018 and was re-elected in 2022. She was supposed to run again for 2024-26 term, the election for which was supposed to take place on July 27 but has been postponed for the time being.
Shomi Kaiser was a popular actress in the 90s. Apart from dominating the small screen, she was active on stage as a part of Dhaka Theatre as well. She also appeared in films like “Hason Raja” (2002) and “Lalon” (2004).
