Legendary music composer Abdul Ahad was remembered at a program titled “Sursrosta Abdul Ahad-er Gaan,” held at the National Music and Dance Auditorium, last Sunday. At the program, several artistes performed his songs while cultural personalities discussed his influence in the field of music.
In co-operation with Mahmuda Khatun Siddiqua, Abdul Ahad and Hamida Khanom Smriti Parishad, Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) organised the program in order to pay tribute to the late influential composer.
Presided by Liaquat Ali Lucky, director general of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, the program featured Rafikuzzaman as the chief discussant. Rafikuzzaman stated, “Back in the days, composers like Abdul Ahad only composed music when they were able to comprehend the emotions of a Tagore song. That’s why the longevity of those songs was exemplary.”
Fahim Hossain and Roquaiya Hasina performed Rabindra Sangeet at the event while Jharna Rahman, Arifur Rahman, Nasima Shaheen and Nashid Kamal performed songs by Abdul Ahad.
