Loko Natyadal to celebrate 36th anniversary

Marking the 36th anniversary of Loko Natyadal, the theatre troupe has arranged a four-day theatre festival with the staging of eight productions, all directed by the troupe’s founder Liaquat Ali Lucky.
On Monday, Liaquat Ali Lucky announced details of the festival at a press conference held at the Conference Room of Bangladesh, Shilpakala Academy. In his speech, Liaquat Ali revealed that the troupe was formed in 1981 at Bangabandhu’s residence on Road-32 in Dhanmondi, where the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was present on the occasion.
The anniversary festival will be inaugurated on July 5 at 6:30 pm at the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy. Followed by the inaguration, the plays Obak Jolpaan and Konjus, which is adapted by Tariq Anam Khan, will be staged.
On July 6, the troupe will perform an adaptation of Gao Xingjian, titled Majhrater Manushera. On July 7, four plays of the troupe, Mujib Maney Mukti, Daakghor, Rothjatra and Shonai Madhob will be staged, while the curtain of the festival will be closed with the staging of Nasrin Mustafa’s Leelaboti Akhyan.
Loko Natyadal was founded on July 6 in 1981. Over the decades, the troupe has produced 60 plays, including productions for children.
