Actor Rhea Chakraborty’s judicial custody ends today, on September 22. A court in Mumbai said that the actor would remain in jail till October 6.
She was arrested on September 9 by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) as part of the probe into the drug angle in actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s death.
Rhea and her brother Showik Chakraborty requested bail from the Bombay High Court, the hearing of which will take place tomorrow, on September 23.
After the WhatsApp chats of Rhea Chakraborty had been revealed as part of Sushant’s death investigation, Rhea was accused of usage and dealing of drugs. The NCB called her an "active member of a drug syndicate".
Based on Rhea's three-day questioning earlier this month, actors Shraddha Kapoor and Sara Ali Khan, who have been repeatedly mentioned during the interrogation, might be questioned next by the anti-drugs agency.
Deepika Padukone's manager Karishma Prakash and talent agency executive Jaya Saha, Sushant's manager Shruti Modi have already been summoned based on the revelations from Rhea’s WhatsApp chats.
Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput committed suicide at his Mumbai home on June 14. The 34-year old actor and Rhea were dating at the time of his death.
Rhea Chakraborty has been accused of exploiting Sushant for money, taking advantage of his deteriorating mental health, drugging him and instigating his suicide.
The Hindustan Times reported on September 11 that a Mumbai court rejected the actor's previous request for bail on the grounds that she might 'alert persons she has named.'
The court dismissed Rhea Chakraborty's claims that she had made self-incriminatory confessions under duress.
