Dipjol shakes up internet with road safety advert

Popular Dhallywood actor, and film producer Monowar Hossain Dipjol has recently starred in a road safety campaign advertisement which has turned viral on social media. The video has reached more than 600,000 views on Facebook since its release on Thursday.

This is the first time the renowned silver screen villain has starred in a television commercial in his 33-year-long career in the media industry.

The advert created by Pran-RFL Group’s electrical accessories brand Click, features Dipjol in his iconic villainous makeup, wearing a black panjabi with gold chains as he emerges from his foggy den. He then comes up to the screen, and knocks on it. Dipjol then threatens irresponsible drivers with a compilation of dialogues from his most iconic negative roles. The commercial is part of an ongoing social awareness campaign titled “Desh Amar Dosh Amar,” which roughly translates to “My country my responsibility.”

After the success of the advertisement, Dipjol told the press: “A lot of people are calling, and praising it. I am thinking about working in adverts from now on along with the regular film work. This project was done by me mainly to raise awareness on the issue.”

Dipjol returned to Bangladesh from Singapore, following his treatment after 51 days on November 9, 2017. He was taken to Singapore General Hospital on September 25, 2017 where three rings were placed in blocked arteries of his heart. This was followed by an open heart surgery a few days later due to a heart attack in his home in Dhaka on September 20, 2017. 

The renowned actor, producer had been recovering since then. His last produced film Dulabhai Zindabad released on October 2018.
