Chanchal Khan’s Maharaj to be released

Impress Audio will release prominent Tagore artist Chanchal Khan’s solo album, comprising of ten songs of Tagore, at its premises on Saturday. The Minister for Cultural Affairs Mr Asaduzzaman Noor will be the chief guest on the occasion who will be joined by eminent Tagore researcher Ahmed Rafiq, writer Selina Hossain, and cultural personality and researcher Mofidul Huq as special guests. Songs in the album include: “Pothik Poran Chol Chol”, “Rakho Rakho Rakho Re”, “Labonno Purno Pran”, “Amar Mon Kemon Kore”, “ Mone Holo Jeno Periyiye Elem”, “Tumi Epar Opar Koro Kego”, “Mono Mondiro Shundori”, “Amar Milon Lagi” and the title song “Maharaj Eki Shaje”. Chanchal Khan has been also researching on different aspects of Tagore’s works, which he had earlier reflected in two of his much acclaimed documentaries Bangladeshe Rabindranath and Timeless Gitanjali. His earlier albums includes a compilation of 13 satiric songs of Tagore titled “O bhai Kanai” taken from various plays of Tagore, released in 2015. So far Chanchal has released six albums, three of which were in India, including HMV-Sa Re Ga Ma published “Khushi Thako”. A development researcher by profession, Chanchal Khan has been translating some of the untranslated songs of Tagore, which he plans to publish in the near future.
