Towards stronger ties with Vietnam

As we complete 50 years of diplomatic relations at the ambassadorial level with Vietnam, it is commendable to see how the friendship between the two countries has developed over the years.

On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of Vietnam-Bangladesh friendship, Vietnamese embassy reflected on areas of cooperation between the neighbours, and expressed hopes of further partnerships.

Bangladesh and Vietnam have made names for themselves as emerging nations in the continent, and with the similar values both countries hold, this friendship has been fruitful in a number of ways.

In fact, economic cooperation between the two countries has experienced a remarkable growth, with two-way trade turnover reaching almost $1.5 billion last year.

Bangladesh has been a strong ally to Vietnam since the very beginning, and with decades of cooperation, both nations seem hopeful of building upon the strong foundation of trust and partnership they have built.

Both Bangladesh and Vietnam have been on similar trajectories of progress, and the new and emerging areas of cooperation can contribute tremendously in bolstering their development.

It is highly promising to see Bangladesh deepening ties with its neighbours, and the many long-lasting friendships it has maintained over the last few decades is testament to the country staying true to its principle of "Friendship towards all, malice towards none."

The diplomatic ties between Bangladesh and Vietnam are undoubtedly beneficial for both parties involved. If we continue to cultivate healthy diplomatic relations as such with other nations, we can surely expect to move a step closer to our development goals -- with a little help from our friends.
