Meher Kabir, wife of late national professor Kabir Chowdhury passed away, leaving behind two daughters to mourn her death.
Meher Kabir along with Kabir Chowdhury worked on Bengali versions of a number of classics.
Born on June 5 in 1921 in Dinajpur, Meher Kabir graduated as a Bachelor of Science (BSc) from Scottish Church College in Kolkata and received an MSc from the University College of Science and Technology also in Kolkata.
Having married Kabir Chowdhury in 1945, Meher started her teaching career in chemistry at Comilla Victoria College in 1949. She was also a provost of Dhaka University’s Rokeya Hall from 1963 to 1965.
