The government has announced a revised schedule for the closure of CNG stations during the holy month of Ramadan to ensure an uninterrupted gas supply for the power sector.
At the same time, CNG and fuel stations will remain open continuously for a specified period to facilitate smooth vehicular movement during the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr.
The notification was issued on Friday by the Energy and Mineral Resources Division under the Ministry of Power, Energy, and Mineral Resources.
The move aims to address low-pressure situations in the gas distribution network and meet the increased demand for gas by the power sector during Ramadan.
Under the revised schedule, CNG stations across the country will remain closed daily from 3:00 pm to 9:00 pm until 14 March. Previously, stations were closed from 6:00pm to 9:00 pm, but the closure period has now been extended to six hours.
To ensure smooth travel for passengers on highways during Eid-ul-Fitr, CNG and fuel stations will remain open continuously from 15 March to 25 March. After the Eid holiday, from 26 March onwards, the stations will revert to the previous schedule, closing daily from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm.
Authorities said these measures are designed to stabilize gas supply for power generation during Ramadan while preventing fuel shortages for vehicles during the Eid travel period.
