“The election in the USA, as a developed country, will affect the whole world," BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir told the Dhaka Tribune.
“(But) we expect that Bangladeshi residents, who are now working in the USA, will be allowed to work smoothly, as it was in the past,” Fakhrul said.
During his presidential campaign, Trump called for a temporary ban on Muslim immigration to US, raising concerns for many countries. He also envisioned the establishment of new immigration controls to boost wages and to ensure that open jobs are offered to American workers first.
"We think the people of US believe in a democratic system, and when the new president comes into power, he will also work to ensure democracy in the world.”

Fakhrul said he expected the new president to help the economic development of Bangladesh, but not to meddle in the domestic politics of the country.
“Bangladesh's internal political crisis should be solved by its own people, and its government and opposition parties," he said.
Meanwhile, Jatiya Party Secretary General Ruhul Amin Hawlader told the Dhaka Tribune he did not think Donald Trump would bring any bad news for Bangladesh or for world politics.
“He (Trump) is not a political figure. So we hope the present world will not be affected politically by his victory,” he said. “Trump is a businessman which indicates his intentions will focus on the business world. We hope he will be working for global economic development, including for Bangladesh.”

“I think his previous comments about expatiate issues is only a political statement, it will not come into reality.”
Communist Party of Bangladesh president Mujahidul Islam Selim said that US "imperialism" would "never be changed", no matter who was elected.
“As in Bangladesh, only the names have changed, not their policies. So their imperialism would continue, regardless of Trump or whoever is elected,” added the CPB chief.
