Shamim refutes allegation of threat

Awami League lawmaker Shamim Osman has refuted the allegation of threatening an assistant superintendent of police in Narayanganj.

He, however, brought allegations against the police official for making “unethical demand”.

Earlier in the day, ASP Bashir Uddin alleged that Shamim Osman threatened him over phone while he was on duty in the Narayanganj 5 by-polls.

Answering to journalists' query about the matter, Shamim brought a counterclaim that the police officer had some “unethical demand” to Madanpur Union Parishad Chairman Abdus Salam.

Shamim said he informed the police authorities about the official's demand.

He also claimed the police have got "some evidences" from the spot as well.

However, the AL lawmaker did not elaborate what kind “unethical demand” it was and what were the evidences police gathered from the spot.

Asked whether he called the police officer, Shamim said: "I phoned him and we talked only one issue."

"The police officer tried to tell me about his previous political affiliation."

Shamim also said the departmental actions against the police officer was underway.

However, Shamim said he wanted a "transparent election."
