Lashing out at Jatiya Party Chairman HM Ershad, Bikalpa Dhara Bangladesh President AQM Badruddoza Chowdhury has termed Ershad “a compulsive and pathological liar”.
“He is a compulsive and pathological liar. On Saturday, he deliberately gave false information on BNP founder Ziaur Rahman,” Badruddoza said in a statement yesterday.
This came in the wake of Ershad saying that he knew who was behind the murder of Ziaur Rahman. He said this while addressing a meeting of Jatiya Jubo Sanghati at Diploma Engineers Institute auditorium in the capital on Saturday.
Ershad said: “The people as well as I know who were behind the murder of Zia, and who were staying in the next room [at Chittagong Circuit House]. Khaleda Zia is now doing party activities with them. Why did not you bring the murderers to book?”
In yesterday’s statement, Badruddoza said: “Ershad is the direct beneficiary of Ziaur Rahman’s murder, not anyone else.”
“If Major General Manzoor was alive, Ershad’s involvement in
Zia’s murder would have been revealed.”
Zia was killed in an army coup on May 30, 1981. Before that, Ershad had been the chief of army staff during Zia’s rule from 1977-81. He became president in 1983.
