Gayeshwar apologises, relieved of contempt

The High Court has relieved BNP Standing Committee member Gayeshwar Chandra Roy from a contempt of court charge as he sought “unconditional apology” for his comment on judiciary.

An HC bench comprising of Justice Quazi Reza-Ul Hoque and AMB Altaf Hossain discharged the BNP leader from the contempt charge in the morning.

Earlier on April 6, Gayeshwar said all courts were confined to Mujib coat. The next day, the HC asked him to appear before it on April 20 for explanation.

The court also issued a rule asking him to explain why legal steps would not be taken against them for making such a comment.
