Jatiya Party on Thursday urged the Election Commission for not allocating the party’s election symbol ‘plough’ to any other political party.
A delegation of Jatiya Party submitted a letter to the Election Commission this afternoon for withdrawing the election symbol of the party.
In the letter, JP Chairman HM Ershad mentioned that as his party would not join the upcoming elections, it is withdrawing the election symbol.
The Jatiya Party joined the “all-party” interim cabinet formed to oversee the upcoming 10th national parliament elections.
Six ministers of the 29-member polls-time cabinet were from the Jatiya Party who took oaths on November 18.
December 3, Ershad declared that his party would not participate in the upcoming election without participations of all political parties.
