The Amar Bangladesh Party (AB Party) has welcomed the chief adviser’s address to the nation, despite having some differences of opinion on parts of his final decisions.
In a statement issued on Thursday, AB Party Chairman Mujibur Rahman Manju and General Secretary Barrister Asaduzzaman Fuad said: “We are in favour of accepting the chief adviser’s statement in the greater interest of the nation. Regardless of differing opinions, the government or Dr Muhammad Yunus has given some final directives — including holding the referendum and national elections on the same day, allocating upper house seats based on proportional voting, and preparing ballots that reflect both consensus and dissent. We think this is a relatively acceptable solution for now.”
They termed the announcement “overall positive,” adding that political parties had already engaged in sufficient debate and dialogue.
“There is no alternative but for the government to offer a solution and for the political parties to accept it,” they said.
The AB Party leaders expressed hope that all political parties, including BNP and Jamaat, would avoid divisions and participate in the upcoming elections in a fair, peaceful, and inclusive manner, helping guide the country toward a stable democratic path.
