'Jatiya Party has no right to do politics'

The "Anti-Fascism Student, Worker, and People's Movement" has organized a torch rally, where speakers declared that the Jatiya Party’s political activities and influence should have no place in the country.

The demonstration took place at the Raju Sculpture on Dhaka University’s campus on Thursday.

During the event, protest leaders alleged that the Awami League government was responsible for mass atrocities in July, saying: “Despite a ban on its terrorist wing, Chhatra League, there are attempts to rehabilitate the Awami League's allies, including the Jatiya Party. The freedom-seeking people of Bangladesh will never accept this.”

Roni Ahmed, a protester injured in the July-August demonstrations, accused certain factions of planning to reinstate the Awami League.

He said: “The Jatiya Party has supported the Awami League from the beginning. Although fascist Hasina is gone, her allies remain. If the Jatiya Party tries to rehabilitate these fascists, they will be eradicated from Bangladesh.”

At around 6:15pm, members of the "Student, Worker, and People's Movement" began their torch procession from the Raju Sculpture, heading towards the Jatiya Party office in a display of their opposition.
