Jamaat Ameer: Be patient, allow interim government to organize

Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Shafiqur Rahman has urged everyone to allow the interim government time to organize itself.

He stated that the interim government has assumed responsibility following the request of the students and the public, and they should be allowed to work.

Speaking to reporters after visiting Hasnat Abdullah, a key coordinator of the anti-discrimination student movement who was receiving treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital, Shafiqur Rahman made these comments.

Hasnat Abdullah was severely injured during a clash between students and Ansar members in the Secretariat area on Sunday night.

Shafiqur Rahman remarked that on August 5, there was a significant change in the country, with Hasnat Abdullah playing a crucial role in the student movement, reports Prothom Alo.

He condemned the actions of unruly Ansar members who forcefully entered the Secretariat during the protest.

Jamaat Ameer noted that students, who had fought against a fascist government, came to listen to protesters and calm the situation.

Regarding various protests demanding changes, Shafiqur Rahman commented: "They have just assumed responsibility. Where were you all this time? Why did you not raise demands earlier? You have been patient for 15 and a half years; please be patient a little longer.”

“Give them time to organize. How can they work if they are constantly disturbed?"

He warned that such actions will not be tolerated by the public, and any further audacity will not be forgiven.
