Raushan: Instigators of nationwide mayhem must face sedition charges

Raushan Ershad, chairperson of Jatiya Party, on Saturday said that those who have wreaked havoc and carried out vandalism should be tried under sedition case.

"I have lost the language to condemn the destruction that armed terrorists have done,” she said.

No citizen can harm his country's wealth like this. Those who did it are enemies of the country, said Raushan Ershad.

She said these things while visiting Setu Bhaban, the Directorate of Health Service, metro rail station at Mirpur-10 affected by the violence of the quota reform movement and visiting the injured at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) and Rajarbagh Police Line Hospital.

Raushan Ershad said: "I couldn't believe seeing the pictures of destruction of state assets through the media. So today I came to see this damage with my own eyes. I could not imagine that I would see such a picture of the country at this age. It may be difficult for the government to recover from this loss, but we cannot erase the wounds of our hearts.”

She also said: "The tender student society of the country had made some reasonable demands. We also supported their demands and the Supreme Court's judgment implemented the demands of the students. Violence broke out in the movement as conspirators infiltrated the peaceful movement of students. The precious lives of many students are lost because of that.”
