Awami League office set on fire in Faridpur, 5 police injured

At least five police officers were injured when they attempted to control the fire set by some miscreants at the Awami League and Auto-rickshaw Workers' Union offices in Faridpur on early Sunday.

The miscreants bombarded the police with bricks when the police arrived at the scene at night. Furthermore, in various locations within the city, several banners of the prime minister and Awami League were set on fire.

Kotwali police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) MA Jalil confirmed these incidents.

Local Awami League leader Jamal Uddin Kanu said: "In the middle of the night, BNP-Jamaat miscreants ignited fires at the Awami League and Auto-rickshaw Workers' Union offices using petrol. Simultaneously, they also exploded a cocktail. Subsequently, the police and fire service personnel arrived to control the fires."

OC Jalil said that the two separate incidents occurred in front of Sriangan Microstand in Faridpur city around 12:30am and in the Ambikapur Bazar area around 1:30am on Saturday. Police also recovered two unexploded cocktails in two distinct locations.

He mentioned that parts of several exploded cocktails were also recovered from the scene. As of now, no arrests have been made, but efforts are ongoing to apprehend the culprits.
