Following its registration as a political party by the Election Commission, the chairman of Bangladesh Supreme Party (BSP) has faced allegations that he has unlawfully occupied a Khanka Sharif (house of a religious leader) and established a political office.
The chairman -- Syed Saifuddin Ahmad Maizbhandari's younger brother and two sisters have made the allegations.
However, Bangladesh Supreme Party has rejected the allegations and asked them to apologize for raising false claims.
“If those who raised false allegations against BSP and its chairman do not apologize within 6 hours, BSP will take legal actions,” Mufti Baki Billah Al Azhari, additional secretary general of Bangladesh Supreme Party said on Sunday.
He made comments at a press conference at the National Press Club in Dhaka organized by Bangladesh Supreme Party to protest against the allegations and demand punishment.
Mufti Baki Billah said: "In the allegation against BSP, it is said that many BSP offices are on their ancestral lands. But it's not true at all. None of our offices are on the lands of those complainants.”
Mohammad Ibrahim Mia, office secretary of BSP said: "Dissidences can exist. Anyone can do constructive criticism. But bringing false allegations against us is a heinous matter. The Election Commission investigated our offices not less than five times. The complaints have raised questions about the transparency of the Election Commission too.”
Mohammah Ibrahim Mia also said: "We want a free, fair, participatory election according to the constitution. A caretaker government is against the constitution. So we demanded national dialogues among different political parties to make a situation for free and fair polls.”
Mawlana Ruhul Amin Bhuiya, Sheikh Azmain Asrar, Advocate Mohammad Ovi, Md Aslam Hossain, Md Monir Khan and some members of BSP central committee were present at the press briefing.
