Agriculture Minister Dr Muhammad Abdur Razzaque said that the resignation of the seven members of parliament would not have any political impact.
He said this while talking to reporters at Circuit House in Tangail on Sunday.
He also said that the leaders and activists of BNP have threatened for movement several times but never implemented it.
“It is sad that they were not in the election until 2018,” Razzaque said, adding: “In parliamentary politics, there needs to be an opposition party, but if none wants to be in it, we have nothing to do.”
The minister said that Jatiya Party, not the BNP, plays the role of opposition. So, having no members from BNP is not an issue.
Regarding BNP's demand for a neutral government, he said: “The country will run according to the constitution and elections will be held. It will not go according to what BNP wants or not.”
