Taposh expresses regret as election, Saraswati Puja fall on same date

Awami League mayoral candidate for Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC), Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh,  expressed regret as both Dhaka city corporation elections and Saraswati Puja fall on January 30.

Saraswati Puja is one of the biggest religious festivals of the Hindu community.

He expressed sympathy with the community during an election campaign in Postgola of Old Dhaka on Wednesday.

"The date was not fixed a long time ago. As far as I know, the Election Commission had a discussion before setting it. Probably something went wrong with the holiday calendar."

The mayor candidate also said "The Hindu community has my sympathy and compassion. However, as the election date is scheduled, we as candidates need to continue our campaign.

"I hope everyone participates in the elections."

Awami League leaders and activists accompanied Taposh during the campaign.
