Quader may be shifted from ICU on Monday

Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader may be shifted from the ICU of Mount Elizabeth Hospital in Singapore on Monday, as his health is gradually improving and he has regained the ability to speak normally.

Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) neuromedicine department’s Dr Abu Nasar Rizvi disclosed the information on Sunday morning.

Earlier on Friday, Dr Rizvi said Quader’s blood pressure had returned to normal, his kidneys were functioning properly, and the infection had been brought under control.

Quader was admitted to the BSMMU due to respiratory distress on Sunday, March 3, and was diagnosed with three artery blockages.

On Monday, March 4, renowned Indian cardiac surgeon Dr Devi Shetty was flown in to Dhaka to make an assessment of Quader’s condition, and recommended that he be taken to Singapore for better treatment. The minister was flown to Singapore in an air ambulance and admitted to Mount Elizabeth Hospital later the same day.
