The Election Commission has ordered law enforcement agencies to stay alert to prevent any untoward situation during the Khulna City Corporation elections.
Khulna City Corporation election chief coordinator Abdul Baten gave the order on Monday while distributing ballots and ballot boxes and other election materials for polling centers.
Baten also urged police and other law enforcement agencies to play a neutral role during the election.
A total of 9,500 law enforcers will remain in the field, and the entire city has been covered under a security tier, he said.
Meanwhile, the commission arranged a trial vote in two centres where Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) will be used.

Voters cast mock votes until 3pm after the EVMs were set up in Sonapota Primary School polling centre and PTI polling centre.
Voting will start at 8am and continue till 4pm on Tuesday at 289 polling centres. The city has 4,93,107 voters – 2,48,986 men and 2,44,527 women – in 31 wards.
Border Guard Bangladesh troopers, police, RAB, Ansar and VDP members have been deployed to ensure law and order, while 49 executive magistrates and 10 judicial magistrates are also on duty. Three to four platoons of BGB troopers have been kept as a reserve force.
