Moudud: Disclose amount of money spent on Bangabandhu-1 satellite

Top BNP leader Barrister Moudud Ahmed on Sunday demanded the government disclose the total amount of money spent on launching Bangabandhu-1 satellite.

"Let people know the total cost of the satellite project and how the money has been spent," he asked the government.

Speaking at a discussion, the BNP standing committee member and former minister also said the government should inform people with whom it signed the deal to launch the satellite and the amount of money they received.

He, however, said it is a matter of pride that the government has sent a satellite into orbit.

The Shafiul Bari Mukti Parishad arranged the discussion at the National Press Club, demanding the release of Jatiyatabadi Swechchhasebak Dal President Shafiul Bari Babu.

‘AL sends agents to rig Khulna city polls’

Moudud warned that their party, together with the people, would launch a tough movement if the Khulna city corporation election is not held in a fair and credible manner.

"We'll turn down the election if the ruling party men resort to irregularities and vote rigging.”

Plainclothes policemen and government agents are being sent to Khulna to help Awami League men take control of the polling stations and rig the election, he alleged, adding that their candidate, Nazrul Islam Monju, and his men are being harassed and intimidated so they do not go to polling stations during Tuesday's voting.

Monju will win the polls with a big margin if it is held in a credible manner, Moudud expressed his hopes.
