2 cases filed over attack on Sajeda’s motorcade

Two cases have been filed over attack on the motorcade of Deputy Leader of Parliament Syeda Sajeda Chowdhury during a factional clash of the Awami League in Faridpur. Humayun Kabir, sub-inspector of Nagarkanda police station, filed a case naming 13 people on Friday. Besides, Ariful Islam, union parishad (UP) chairman of Fultolli union, filed another case against 56 people the same night.

Nagarkanda police's Officer-in-charge (OC) FM Nasim said the followers of Nagarkanda upazila Awami League Joint Secretary Md Jamal Hossain Miah and Sajeda’s son Ayman Akbar Bablu Chowdhury, clashed over tearing of posters of Jamal's father and damaging an archway. They fought running battles. At one stage, Jamal's supporters started throwing brick chips at the motorcade of Sajeda while it was crossing the area. The attackers vandalised three cars of the motorcade, leaving five people, including the OC, injured.
