At the programme, he said: “Islam is a peaceful religion which operates through Quran and Sunnah while people will ill-intentions are patronising and spreading terrorism in the name of Islam and misinterpreting the Quran and Sunnah.”
The minister said the objective of these people is to humiliate the global Muslim community and destroy Islam in order to control the resources in the Muslim countries including Bangladesh.
“Militancy and terrorism have emerged across the Muslim countries as part of a foreign conspiracy to capture our resources,” he added.
He said: “Citizens of Bangladesh were unaware of national resources. Bangabandhu had given a country to the nation whose borders were not yet drawn. His daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina determined the border with a Land Boundary Agreement.
Sheikh Hasina has also signed a river water sharing agreement with a neighbouring country. And Bangladesh has won maritime disputes in an international court and acquired vast expanses of marine territory.
“If any country can utilise these undersea resources, it will be the richest country in the world. But it has lured in militancy and terrorism to Bangladesh today,” the minister said.
Minister Amu reiterated the current government’s target to develop Bangladesh into a middle income country before 2021 and a developed country before 2041.
