Salahuddin shifted to hospital

BNP Joint Secretary General Salahuddin Ahmed has been shifted to North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (Neigrihms) from a Shillong jail.

The BNP leader was admitted to the Neigrihms following a court order after he complained of chest pain, The Shillong Times reported.

He was discharged from discharged from Neigrihms in Shillong on Tuesday, six days after he was admitted there.

On Wednesday, a Shillong court sent Salahuddin Ahmed to jail for 14 days in a case filed for illegal intrusion in India under the Foreigners Act.

The spokesperson of the BNP has been receiving treatment under police custody since he reappeared in Shillong on May 11 after going missing in Bangladesh for two months.

Later, he was admitted to Shillong Civil Hospital in Meghalaya.

On May 20, the BNP leader was shifted to Neigrihms for better treatment.

His wife, Hasina Ahmed, says they are worried that India might hand Salahuddin over to Bangladesh considering the Interpol red notice on him.
