AF Hassan Ariff, adviser to the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism and the Ministry of Lands, was laid to eternal rest at Mirpur Martyred Intellectuals' Graveyard on Monday.
The nation is observing a day of state mourning in his honour.
Hassan Ariff was buried at 10:30am, in the presence of family members, including his son Muaz Arif, and other prominent individuals.
A notification issued by Cabinet Secretary Sheikh Abdur Rashid on Sunday said: "The national flag will be flown at half-mast on Monday at all government, semi-government, autonomous institutions, educational institutions, and Bangladesh missions abroad as a mark of respect to the late adviser. Additionally, special prayers will be offered at all mosques for the forgiveness of his soul, with similar observances held at other religious institutions."
