Police have arrested the main accused in the murder of a 15-year-old schoolgirl whose body was recovered from farmland in Lalmai upazila of Comilla.
Comilla Superintendent of Police Md Anisuzzaman confirmed the arrest, saying police were investigating whether anyone else was involved. However, police have yet to recover the murdered student's mobile phone.
The schoolgirl’s body was recovered from farmland beside Manumura Jungle in Jagatpur Uttarpara, Perul North Union, Lalmai upazila, around 8am on Thursday. A gamcha was wrapped around her neck.
The schoolgirl was from the Chatiantala area of Churamonkati Union in Jeshore Sadar upazila. She lived with her family in a rented house in the Racecourse area of Comilla city.
After the post-mortem examination on Wednesday, her relatives took the body home. Earlier that night, her father filed a murder case with Lalmai police station.
The schoolgirl left home on October 4, saying she was going to visit a friend. She had been missing since then, and her body was found in farmland four days later.
