Bandarban tourist spots reopen; Debotakhum to remain closed

Tourist attractions in Bandarban have reopened after remaining closed for 10 days due to heavy rainfall and landslides. However, Debotakhum, one of the district's most popular tourist destinations, will remain closed until further notice.

The information was announced in a notice signed by Rowangchhari Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Tajmin Alam Tuli on Wednesday.

According to the notice, continuous heavy rainfall in Bandarban recently increased water flow in rivers, streams and waterfalls, triggering floods and landslides across different parts of the district.

The notice said infrastructure at the Debotakhum tourist spot in Rowangchhari upazila sustained significant damage during the recent flooding, making urgent repairs necessary to ensure visitor safety.

As a result, Debotakhum will remain closed to tourists until July 20, the notice added.
