Six people died in separate lightning strike incidents in Savar and Narsingdi District on Sunday, according to local police and hospital officials.
In Savar, three men died after being struck by lightning while working in agricultural fields in the Konda Bazar area of Bangaon Union.
The deceased were identified as Din Islam (46), Dulal (60), and Haque Ali Pramanik (62). Police said they were working during rainy weather in the afternoon when the strike occurred. Two of them died on the spot, while another died on the way to hospital after being injured, reports our Savar correspondent.
In a separate incident in Monohardi Upazila of Narsingdi, three madrasa students were killed and another injured after being struck by lightning while performing ablution in a pond at Medinatul Uloom Madrasa and Orphanage in Gotashia Union, according to reports from our Narsingdi correspondent.
The deceased students were Jahirul Haque (15), Abu Raihan (14), and Abu Zafar (15), all originally from Hossainpur in Kishoreganj.
Police confirmed that four students were initially affected. Three were declared dead after being taken to Shibpur Upazila Health Complex, while one injured student is receiving treatment.
Authorities said the incidents occurred during thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening hours.
