Authorities have seized approximately 13,500 litres of illegally stored diesel during an operation in Siddhirganj of Narayanganj, and arrested two individuals in connection with the incident.
The drive was conducted on Friday evening in the Burma Stand area under Siddhirganj Police Station. The fuel was recovered from a facility named Mehedi Enterprise. The operation was led by Sadar Upazila Executive Officer and Executive Magistrate SM Foyez Uddin.
The arrested individuals were identified as Md Jasim (38) from the Godnail area of Siddhirganj and Mohammad Hossain Bhuiyan (30) from the Burma Stand area. Both are employees of the establishment.
Confirming the matter, Executive Magistrate SM Foyez Uddin told Dhaka Tribune that the two tanker lorries were carrying around 13,500 litres of diesel stored illegally, and the suspects failed to provide any valid documentation. He added that the lorries had been fitted with meters similar to those used at filling stations, which is entirely unlawful.
