Five killed in separate road accidents in Comilla

Five people were killed in separate road accidents on the Comilla section of the Dhaka–Chittagong highway on Wednesday morning.

In Daudkandi, two CNG passengers were killed after an unidentified vehicle hit their vehicle in the Barpara area.

The deceased were identified as Abdul Barek, 53, and Mustafa, 52—both residents of Sarkarpur village in the upazila’s Gouripur area.

In another incident in Burichang, two truck drivers were killed when a truck crashed into their vehicle in the Nimsar Bazar area early in the morning.

They were identified as Zahirul Islam (Moin), 27, son of Hanif from Lalpur village in Begumganj upazila of Noakhali, and Sohel Rana, 35, son of Khoda Box from Keshabpur in Meherpur Sadar upazila.

In Chandina, a ninth-grade student was killed after being hit by a lorry while crossing the road in the Katherpul area.

The victim, Taim, was a student of Boro Gobindapur High School.

Daudkandi Highway Police Station Officer-in-Charge Iqbal Bahar Majumder and Mainamati Highway Police Station Officer-in-Charge Abdul Momin said the accidents occurred at different points on Wednesday morning.

They added that the bodies have been handed over to the victims’ families and legal action is underway. The vehicles involved in the accidents have been seized.
