Police have recovered the body of Kamrun Nahar Iti ,27, a woman entrepreneur and beauty parlour owner, in Narayanganj city, detaining her husband in connection with the incident.
The body was recovered on Friday afternoon from Pori Beauty Parlour and Training Center in the Amlapara area, police said.
The detained man, Anwar Hossain Sentu (45), is the son of Ilias Sardar of the city’s Masdair area. He had been living there with his wife and their 12-year-old son. The victim, Kamrun Nahar Iti, was known locally as an entrepreneur and the owner of the beauty parlour where her body was found.
According to police sources, local residents noticed a foul smell coming from inside the closed parlour on Friday afternoon and informed the authorities. Police later arrived at the scene, broke open the locked door, and recovered the body from the toilet inside the parlour. The body was subsequently sent to Narayanganj General Hospital for autopsy. Police said injury marks were found on the victim’s body, suggesting foul play.
The victim’s sister, Laki, said that Iti had been missing since 27 January. “When the bad smell started coming from the parlour, the building owner informed the police and our family. We went there with the police and found my sister’s body inside the toilet,” she said.
She further alleged that Iti’s husband was drug-addicted and had a history of physically abusing her sister. “He used to beat her regularly. Recently, he even broke her hand. Despite the abuse, my sister did not leave her family. I demand justice for her murder,” Laki added.
Mohammad Abdul Halim, officer-in-charge of Sadar Model Police Station, said the victim’s husband has been brought in for questioning. He also confirmed that a General Diary (GD) had been filed at Fatullah Model Police Station after the woman went missing on 27 January. “The matter is under investigation, and legal action will be taken based on the findings,” he said.
