Several residential halls at Jahangirnagar University (JU) have developed cracks following the recent earthquake, raising safety concerns among students.
Students reported that cracks were visible in various parts of the Jatiya Kabi Kazi Nazrul Islam Hall and Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Hall, including floors and corridors.
Additionally, older halls such as Maulana Bhashani Hall and Mir Mosharraf Hossain Hall have experienced plaster falling off in some areas.
Professor Kamrul Ahsan, vice-chancellor of JU, said that the university administration is conducting a preliminary assessment of the damage. "For the safety of students, the Department of Engineering has been instructed to carry out urgent inspections," he added.
