Tourist numbers surge at Khagrachhari’s attractions during Eid

On Eid day, a visit to Khagrachhari’s tourist attractions—Alutila cave, the District Council Park, and Ansar Park—revealed a significant gathering of visitors.

Conversations with them indicated that most were locals, reports Bangla Tribune.

Abdur Rahman, a resident of Sabujbagh in Khagrachhari town, shared that he was out with his family, enjoying the holiday. They planned to visit Alutila, Richang Waterfall, and Horticulture Park before heading home.

Titu Chakma, a businessman at Khagrachhari’s Horticulture Park, mentioned that due to Ramadan, their business had been slow for a month. However, with the arrival of tourists on Eid day, sales had increased.

He anticipated a further rise in visitors since the holiday season was still ongoing.

Kokonath Tripura, the ticket counter in-charge at Alutila tourist spot, said: "Around 2,500 tourists visited Alutila on Eid day, and this number is expected to increase in the coming days."

Thoi Angya Marma, the officer in charge of Khagrachhari Horticulture Park, reported that nearly 2,000 tourists visited the park on Eid day.

He added that more visitors were expected and that various initiatives had been taken to attract tourists.

Tourist Police officer Nishat Roy assured that security measures had been arranged to ensure tourists could explore safely, with both tourist police and district police on duty.

Superintendent of Police (SP) Arefin Jewel said that a three-tier security system had been implemented for tourists, with a special team on standby for emergency situations.
