Students of Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (Kuet) locked the administrative and academic buildings from 1:30pm on Wednesday, following clashes over student politics.
The move was part of their protest, announced on Tuesday night, which includes a five-point demand — one of which is the resignation of the vice-chancellor.
The situation on campus remains tense, with the Kuet vice-chancellor still under siege.
Meanwhile, a syndicate meeting is underway to address the crisis.
The vice-chancellor, who has been confined at the university’s medical centre, joined the meeting virtually.
Shahaduzzaman Sheikh, public relations officer (additional duty) at Kuet, confirmed that the meeting began earlier in the day and was still ongoing as of 2:15pm.
