A fire broke out at a jute warehouse and raw material shops in the Mill Gate area of Tongi, Gazipur, early on Friday at around 5am.
After a two-hour effort, seven units of the Fire Service successfully brought the fire under control at approximately 7:15am.
According to Abdul Mannan, deputy assistant director of Fire Service (Dhaka Zone-3), the Tongi Fire Service received reports of the fire at 5:30am.
In response, three fire units from Tongi were initially deployed to control the blaze.
However, as the fire intensified, an additional four units from Uttara Fire Service joined the operation.
Eventually, a total of seven fire service units managed to bring the situation under control by 7:15am.
He further said that the lack of an immediate water source initially posed a challenge, prompting additional support from Uttara Fire Service.
The fire engulfed jhut warehouses, paint storage facilities, raw material depots and various grocery shops.
Fortunately, no casualties have been reported.
The extent of the damage and the cause of the fire are currently under investigation.
