A head-on collision between a truck and a car in Osmaninagar upazila, Sylhet, early on Sunday claimed the lives of four members of the same family.
The deceased were Suhel, 40, the driver, Shamima, 40, Iti Begum, 35, and Ayan, 7, all from Aymilla village in Rupganj, Narayanganj.
According to the Highway Police, two people died on the spot, while two others succumbed to their injuries at the hospital.
Authorities are investigating whether the accident was caused by heavy fog or other factors.
Sherpur highway police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abu Taher Dewan said the family was travelling to Sylhet in two cars from Rupganj for a trip.
Around 7:30am, one of the cars collided head-on with a truck coming from Sylhet.
As a result, two individuals died at the scene, while two others passed away at the hospital.
