Comilla University students on Monday turned over the university's deputy registrar to the police, citing his involvement as an accused in a case.
Mohammad Jakir Hossain was initially brought to the proctor's Office. Later, administrative officials discussed the matter with the proctor.
Subsequently, with the assistance of administrative officials, the proctor, and university students, Jakir was turned over to the police.
Md Hannan Rahim, a student of the 2017–18 academic session from the Department of Mathematics, said Jakir is an accused listed in a case's charge sheet. “Since there is a case against him, he was turned over to the police."
Proctor Prof Dr Md Abdul Hakim refused to comment on the matter.
Meanwhile, SI Liton of Kotbari police outpost said: "As per the DB officer's directive, we arrested him. He is an accused in a case, and we apprehended him based on that case."
Mohammad Jakir Hossain is listed as the 11th accused in a case filed by one Shakhawat Hossain with Comilla Sadar South police station.
