Police had yet to track down a woman doctor abducted from her home in Rajshahi as of Tuesday afternoon but claimed to have identified the vehicle used for the kidnapping.
Meanwhile, the doctor's father filed a case in this connection at Chandrima police station in Rajshahi on Monday night, hours after the abduction.
The abductors had also picked up her father along with her, later abandoning him in the Solonga area of Sirajganj.
Earlier, the abductors also assaulted the doctor’s mother, leaving her injured. She was later admitted to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital.
The abducted doctor, a recent Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) graduate from a private medical college in Rajshahi, lives in the city with her retired government officer father.
Rajshahi Metropolitan Police spokesperson Additional Deputy Commissioner Sabina Yasmin said that all possible efforts are being made to locate the doctor.
She added that the vehicle used in the abduction has been identified and its details circulated to other police stations.
Chandrima police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Motiar Rahman said the complainant recognized the abductors and a case has been filed against three unidentified individuals.
The doctor’s uncle reported that his brother-in-law, who was taken by the abductors, remains physically weak and injured due to the torture he endured.
He was reportedly administered an injection to render him unconscious, further worsening his condition.
The incident reportedly occurred early on Monday when the doctor’s father went to the mosque for Fajr prayers, locking the gate and taking the key with him.
Shortly afterwards, the mother heard the sound of the gate being unlocked.
Assuming her husband had returned early, she approached the door but was confronted by the abductors, who had forced her husband to unlock the gate.
The abductors assaulted the mother, banging her head against a wall and striking her with a lock.
They also choked her before leaving with her husband and daughter.
The mother managed to escape and call for help, but by then, the abductors had fled with their captives.
